Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair
Wine and beverage fairs, where drinks are sourced and sold
Wine and beverage fairs bring together producers, importers, distributors and equipment suppliers around wine, spirits, beer, coffee, tea and soft drinks. Some are trade events where buyers place orders, others are consumer tastings, and many sit inside broader food and hospitality exhibitions.
Exhibitors come to present new labels, blends and recipes, to meet importers and distributors, and to find new markets. Visitors are buyers from retail, wholesale and the hotel and restaurant trade, along with sommeliers, bar professionals and producers looking for packaging, bottling and brewing technology. Because drinks are so often sold alongside food, many shows cover both, and the neighboring Food & Hospitality sector is closely tied to this one. The raw materials side, from vineyards to grain and tea estates, belongs to Agriculture.
The calendar mixes large international shows with regional and national events. ProWine Shanghai is a fair for the wine and spirits industry, held in Shanghai, and the city also hosts FHC Shanghai Global Food Trade Show, where suppliers meet importers and hotel and restaurant buyers. In Tokyo, Drink Japan focuses on developing and manufacturing beverages, and JFEX Winter is designed for international brands that are new to the Japanese market.
Europe includes major wine-producing and brewing countries, and drinks fairs are held across the continent. Italy and Spain, two major wine producers, host shows in cities such as Milan and Valencia, the latter at Feria Valencia. In Germany, Plaza Culinaria in Freiburg is a gourmet fair open to the public, while Horeca Expo in Ghent gathers the hotel, restaurant, café and large-kitchen segments in one place. Peterfood in Saint Petersburg is built around meetings between suppliers and buyers from retail chains and distribution.
In the United States, the North Coast Wine Industry Expo in Santa Rosa is a one-day trade show and conference for the wine industry of Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties. In the United Kingdom, the Festive Good Food Show in Birmingham is a consumer event with a Christmas theme, built around tastings and shopping. Fairs are also held in Mumbai, where the Bombay Exhibition Centre hosts shows, and in Krakow, at EXPO Krakow in Poland.
