Spain, from Madrid's IFEMA to Barcelona

Spain organizes its trade fairs around three poles: Madrid, home of IFEMA, Barcelona, with its international congresses, and Valencia, with consumer and trade events. Technology, manufacturing, construction and weddings stand out in a calendar that peaks in autumn.

Spain is a large and diversified economy, with services and tourism, a solid industrial base in automotive, food processing and machinery, and strong agriculture. Madrid, the capital, is the seat of the government and of many company headquarters, and Barajas airport links it with the rest of Spain and abroad. Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia on the Mediterranean coast, and Valencia is a port and industrial city further south.

Madrid's fairs are held chiefly at IFEMA Madrid, with the Pabellón de Convenciones in Casa de Campo and Madrid Arena taking a few. Easyfairs and other organizers stage industrial and technology events there: Advanced Manufacturing Madrid for manufacturing, Tech Show Madrid for cloud, cybersecurity, data and digital business, and interihotel for interior design in hotels and restaurants. The page on technology and innovation in Spain follows the sector across cities.

In Barcelona, IBTM World brings event planners and association leaders together with suppliers of destinations, hotels and event technology, and Smart City Expo World Congress is an exhibition and congress on urban innovation for city governments, companies and researchers. Both are held in November.

Elsewhere, Valencia hosts consumer events such as Fiesta y Boda, a fair for weddings and celebrations, a subject also followed on the page for weddings. Feria Valencia is its main venue. In Galicia, Expourense in Ourense hosts events, and Bilbao and Malaga complete the map with occasional shows.
