Dubai, a trading port turned regional exhibition hub

Dubai grew from a creek-side trading port into a regional center for commerce, aviation and tourism. Its fairs cover food, mining, agriculture, jewelry, education and leisure, held mainly at the Dubai World Trade Centre and the Dubai Exhibition Centre.

Dubai is one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates, and its economy rests on trade, logistics, tourism, real estate and finance rather than on oil. The Jebel Ali port and Dubai International Airport make it a transit point between Europe, Asia and Africa. The Dubai World Trade Centre, built around its landmark tower, is a fairground, and the Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City offers additional space. Hotels and conference centers such as Le Méridien Dubai host meetings. Food and drink fairs include ISM Middle East covers sweets and snacks, the Middle East Organic & Natural Expo organic and halal products, Dubai Vinexpo wine and spirits, and the Salon du Chocolat Dubai chocolate, pastry and coffee.

Heavy industry and the land are also represented. The Mining Show covers mining and quarrying across the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, and AgroFarm Middle East addresses agriculture and animal production. Other fairs relate to health and consumer trades, such as the World Vape Show Dubai, a business-to-business exhibition for the international vape industry.

Luxury and public events have their place. Jewellery & Bride Arabia focuses on the luxury segment, and the Dubai Muscle Show is a fitness and bodybuilding event for the public. Families and students attend Najah Expo Dubai, a higher education fair. These sit within the fashion, beauty and luxury and education and careers pages. The fairs described here run from October to December.
