London, a services capital with several fairgrounds
London is the financial and professional services capital of the United Kingdom, and its trade fairs follow that profile. Travel, business services, marketing, construction and hospitality events fill venues across the city, from the Docklands to Kensington.
London is a global city for finance, insurance, law, advertising and media, served by Heathrow, Gatwick, City, Stansted and Luton airports. Its economy is built on services, which explains why most of its trade fairs address professions rather than factories. ExCeL London is an exhibition center in the Docklands, in east London. WTM London gathers travel and tourism professionals, and Paper & Tissue Show London brings the paper, hygiene and packaging industries around the UK market. The other venues are Olympia London in the west, the Business Design Centre in Islington, the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre near Westminster and the Kensington Conference and Events Centre.
Several fairs address business services. The Business Show London is built for small companies and founders, B2B Marketing Live for business-to-business marketers, and Contact Centre & CX Expo for those running customer operations. These fairs sit within business and finance and technology and innovation. B2B Marketing Live combines a conference program with an exhibitor village. Retrain Expo is open to individuals changing careers as well as to employers.
Construction, design and hospitality complete the picture. London Build addresses the building industry, and HIX Europe addresses hotel design, a field that connects to both construction and architecture and food and hospitality. The European Pizza Show and the London Vet Show show how specific the professional audiences can be.
